#BEDN ~ Relax

Sunday might be the day of the rest, but a lot of the time, we’re either chasing our tails from the week just gone, or getting ourselves organised for the week ahead. On those rare occasions where all the chores are done, computers are left idle and all thoughts of work are at the back of our minds, we might get one of those blissful Sundays which are just golden. You know the ones I mean, where the weather is good, you do something lovely & indulgent and you really mourn it when it’s gone.

sunny dogFor me, the ultimate Sunday would include an epic walk on the beach. I love being by the sea. There’s something about it that seems to bolster the spirit, from the sea air to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore line. I do miss the sea when I’m away from it.

The perfect relaxing Sunday would also have to include some great food, definitely pancakes & lots of chai! Spending a few hours knitting, on the sofa, in front of a blazing fire with Poppy stretched out next to me, would also make it perfect. She is a master when it comes to relaxing & can go from running around, full of energy, to being fast asleep in the blink of an eye. Tho, if you head to the kitchen, she’ll open an eye to see if it’s worth getting up to investigate!

Yawn shotAnd that’s it for another Sunday. Don’t the weekends seem to go so quickly? I’m all in favour of a three day weekend! How about you?

#BEDN ~ Hobbies

My main hobby is knitting. The main reason I like it is you can do it anywhere, including in front of the TV while drinking wine. What’s not to love about that?! I’d say I was an intermediate knitter, but I’ve still got lots to learn. I’m also quite a slow knitter and I don’t really like knitting to order. I like to knit what I want, when I want. At the moment, I’ve got a few wip’s, including an ear warmer and a jumper. Hopefully I’ll finish them before the end of winter, but there are no guarantees!

I like making things to wear, like the hat and scarf below. I like knowing there’s no one else wearing the same one as me and I like the fact that a few balls of wool became something wearable.

I also love these bunny nuggets that I made – one for me, one for my sister, a few years ago. They make great Easter gifts or if you just need to make someone smile! I won’t lie to you, they are a little fiddly (I prefer chunky knitting – it’s quicker & easier) but I think you’ll agree that these cheeky fellows are worth it!

I also love a bit of paper craft, as and when the mood strikes, and still make silver jewellery occasionally, though not for a while. I like sewing too, but knitting is the one thing I go back to again and again. I would like to learn how to crochet, and may learn next year, but it’s gotta’ be better than knitting to take the number one spot!

#BEDN ~ Favourite Folk: The Gilmore Girls

Let me introduce you to my favourite folk, The Gilmore Girls.

The Gilmore Girls is the best TV show ever (joint first with The Walking Dead. Obvs.) It’s a show about Lorelai and her daughter, Rory who live in the beautiful town of Stars Hollow, where I would move to in a heartbeat. The story revolves around how Lorelai had Rory at sixteen, left her parents house and brought Rory up on her own. Lorelai is constantly trying to get away from the privileged world that she grew up, but keeps getting drawn back to it. The show has lots of hilarious characters besides the main two, including Luke who owns the diner, Lane who is Rory’s best friend, and Richard & Emily Gilmore, the grandparents.

One of the things I love about it is that it’s just lovely. It’s a proper ‘feel good’ programme so it’s perfect for escaping from the stresses & strains of real life. I got into it a lot when I was really stressed out with work a few years ago. I would just watch it, episode after episode, and let it wash over me, feeling myself unwind. It makes me feel happy & warm and I love when a TV programme can do that. And I found out that there’s even talk of a Gilmore Girls film, which would pretty much make my year!

Dragonfly InnMy OH found this awesome website the other day, with all the Gilmore Girls merchandise you could ever want it! I would so wear this t-shirt!

From the fast-paced witty banter, to the fact that Lorelai & Rory should be morbidly obese from all the junk food they eat (Watching it always makes me hungry!), to wanting to eat pancakes at Luke’s and spending the weekend at the Dragonfly, I am a Gilmore Girls addict and I’m not afraid to say it!
