Liberty Home Department Launch 2013

Succulents

This morning I have been along to the launch of Liberty‘s Homeware department, which includes their new Outdoor Living section. I warn you – I’m going to gush, quite a bit, about how great the products are. But they are. The floor is filled with beautiful furniture, plush cushions and fabric and amazing outdoor pieces. I took a lot of photographs & had a really good look around. If you want to add splashes off colour to your home, then you need to have a look around Liberty. Similarly, if you want your garden furniture and garden to blend seamlessly, then you have to visit the outdoor living area.

The home wares team at Liberty have handpicked an eclectic and inspiring selection of designers, artisans and artists. This means that you can go to Liberty and see different things for your home & garden. While they’re following the trend of bright bold soft furnishings, you can have something unique for your home, which is what you’d expect from somewhere like Liberty.

With designers like Donna Wilson, Rory Dobner and Astier De Villate nestled alongside Moorcroft and pieces sourced by Patch Rogers and Drew Pritchard, you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a unique shopping experience.

Here are a few of my favourite pieces

I had a lovely time at the launch and got a ton of ideas for my home and garden. I love the way that Liberty has got a real mixture of old and new and it all works really well. My favourite two things were the Orla Kiely designed lamps. I love her designs. I like patterns and love the combinations she uses. My second favourite thing was the old leather armchair. Leather armchairs need to be broken into so when you come across one that is, it’s a real gem. Plus I’m on the look out for two awesome armchairs and would buy this one in a heart beat, if I had the cash!

Liberty has always been a reason to visit London. Now, it’s almost like visiting a museum as well. The way everything is displayed, it’s almost like taking a tour of Pitt Rivers Museum! But you can take the artifacts home!

Easter Ideas for Your Home

Easter Ideas

Does anyone else find that Easter always seems to come around really quickly? I don’t know if it’s because chocolate eggs are in the shops as soon as Christmas Day has passed, or because we’re all desperately wanting Spring to come around after another long, cold, dark Winter. Either way, I never really seem to be ready for Easter. This year, I’ve started a Pinterest board of ideas in the hope that I’ll be prepared enough to make my own Easter decorations and presents, and maybe even make my own Simnel Cake next year. This year, however, it’s going to have to be store-bought or nothing! If you’re looking for a few Easter Ideas, here’s a quick round-up.

Easter Ideas

  1. Personalised Happy Easter Greeting Card {The Green Gables}
  2. Bone china ‘chickens’ egg cup {Charlotte Macey}
  3. Easter Simnel Cake {Daylesford Farm}
  4. Easter Egg Tree {Martha Stewart}
  5. Bunny Nuggets {Rebecca Danger}

Alternatively, you can follow my Easter Ideas Pinterest board. If you’ve got any great Easter ideas, whether it’s decorations, presents or Easter food, I’d love to hear about them! Or if you know of any great Easter Pinterest boards that are worth a follow, let me know!

PS: Have you entered the Great Crafty Chai Easter Chocolate Giveaway yet? There’s still time!

Tuesday Treat – Home Barn

HomeBarn Butterflies

A little while ago, I noticed a few people tweeting about a place called Home Barn. A quick search online & I could see why – It sells a real mixture of eclectic vintage products for home and garden. Once I’d had a good look through the website, I knew I had to visit for myself. And so we did, a few weekends ago. They have so many things that I want for our home, including a beautiful grey wardrobe that would look great in our bedroom. My favourite thing, however, is the beautiful butterflies in a frame.

HomeBarn ButterfliesThis is not the kind of thing I would normally go for, and my photo doesn’t do it justice, but I love the brightness of the colours on the butterfly wings, especially the blue one at the top. That’s the other thing I love about Home Barn. They aren’t afraid to use bright colours and have inspired me to do something with the wooden dining chairs we inherited. They could do with a lick of paint to bring them to life! If you haven’t yet discovered the wonderful world tucked into Home Barn then you’re missing out! Check them out online or pop in & say hello at their shop in Little Marlow.

How to Improve your Garden

Rusty

For those of you who know me personally, or follow me on social media, you will know that the garden has been an annoying issue since we moved in three years ago. When we moved in, the garden was overgrown and contained a delapidated old shed & a fence near collapse. Well, not any more it doesn’t! We spent most of last year clearing the weeds out. This was a massive task. Mainly because if you weren’t out weeding every weekend, they grew back, thanks to the Great British summer weather we enjoyed. The weather also took control of the fence & brought it down. So we knew we’d have some work to do this year. We cleared the old shed, took the remaining fence down & set about getting a man in to sort it all out. And boy did he ever!

New shedWe now have a complete fence between us and next door. The wall at the back of the house is now solid & you can no longer see through it. The Silve Birch has been trimmed so it won’t grow into the wall or the shed. We now have a shed that doesn’t leak, doesn’t have massive holes in and is no longer the Spider & Snail Convention Centre for the South East. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, including a million tip runs to get rid of the left over stones & rubbish. We need to cut borders in & build some raised beds. And the weeds are coming back! Rude! So we’re hoping for some dry, warmer weather to get out there in our wellies & make it happen. I cannot wait!
