While I was in London last week, I took the opportunity to enjoy one of the cafes that London has to offer. While there are lots of great coffee places, I often find that they don’t always offer tea to the same standard. I love a great coffee, but tea is my first love so finding a great tea place is worth its weight in gold. So when I knew I was going to London, I asked my OH to find me a decent tea place, with free wifi, not too far from Liberty. He came across Yumchaa Tea. It’s just up the road from Liberty, and it was very welcoming on a chilly Thursday morning. I started with a nice breakfast tea, that was lovely & strong. The wifi was pretty decent and it was quite quiet. After I’d been there a while, and before the lunch crowd started coming in, I ordered a chai latte & a slice of banana and Nutella bread.
Both were absolutely delicious! The chai latte was hot, creamy & spicy – all the flavours were perfectly combined. The cake was awesome! The Nutella was all melty in the middle and it was baked to perfection.
I had a thoroughly lovely time at Yumchaa. I had a small table all to myself, they played great music and there was enough going on that people watching was interesting without being distracting. Plus I saw a pug walk by! What more could a girl ask for?! I’ll definitely be going back to Yumchaa next time I’m near one. Chai heaven!
A few weeks ago, some old teacher buddies and I got together for brunch. As we come from all over, we needed somewhere in the middle so we opted for Limes Farm Shop & Tearooms. Just off the main road, you can blink & miss it, but you would be missing out! We booked in advance, mainly because one of the party is coeliac. I had a look at the online menu (obviously!) & wasn’t surprised to see that the veggie options were limited to toast or porridge. I didn’t mind, as like both. However, when ordering, to the horror of my friends when I didn’t order the cooked breakfast, the waitress informed me that they did a veggie option. And not a pathetic excuse for a veggie cooked breakfast – a proper veggie cooked breakfast with veggie sausages, mushroom, toast, beans & two fried eggs! Delicious! I was so pleased. I love a cooked breakfast & hate it when veggies get shortchanged with just extra beans & mushrooms. It was delicious. And so were the meat versions and the gluten-free version!
Limes Farm is a great place to meet up & enjoy good food. It has a great atmosphere, they make great coffee and has incredible food. The food for sale in the shop looks fantastic & I will definitely be going back for some afternoon tea. If you’re nearby, make sure you drop in. You won’t be disappointed!
Last night was spent at The Six Bells Pub in Warborough. My OH & I were meeting up with some friends & the Six Bells is perfectly situated so that it is half way between us. I’d looked on-line & tweeted about where we could meet for dinner, but nothing really grabbed me, until I saw the Six Bells. Most people will know it because it features in a lot of Midsummer Murders episodes. Not being an massive Midsummer fan, I didn’t really know what to expect, although I was pleased to see more than one veggie option on their sample menu on-line. Easy to find & located in the very beautiful village of Warborough, it’s a great place to eat & catch up with friends.
We arrived & bought some drinks, my first (small) glass of wine this year, while waiting for our friends. When we were ready, we were sat at a table that was in a great spot as it was a little secluded from the other diners. The menu was very good. There were three veggie options in the mains section & I could have eaten any of them. I didn’t have a starter, as I was saving myself for a pudding. I opted for the Bean Lasagna, as it was a little different & not something I would cook at home. When it arrived, the portion size was very reasonable. Lasagna is quite filling, especially when it includes beans so it shouldn’t be massive. It came with a lovely fresh side salad & salad dressing.
It was very tasty. I really liked it, it was well cooked, with a few crispy bits on the edges. Not too much cheese either. Perfect! We’d waited quite a while between the starters that the boys had & our main course. We hadn’t notice because we were busy chatting, but the lady who served us, who I think was the owner, came over & apologised and offered to buy us a round of drinks. This impressed me no end! They were three members of staff short but the service & the atmosphere was excellent. We weren’t rushed or ignored.
The choices on the dessert menu were great, something for everyone. But as I’m a creature of habit, there was only really one choice: Chocolate brownie! My friend & I shared the pudding, which was a good idea as it was quite choclatey.
All in all, we had a perfect evening. Excellent service, great food, good wine & fab company. I will definitely be going back to the Six Bells. They also do some lovely looking jacket potatoes and sandwiches at lunch time & I’d love to give them a taste. If you haven’t been to the Six Bells then you really should make a visit there. I for one cannot wait to go back!
Last week, I received some very lovely chocolates in the post from Lindt. Eager to give them a taste test, I had to wait until January ended to have a bite. Boy was it worth the wait! I had two different types of Lindt Valentines chocolates: The classic Lindor Chocolate Truffle in a cute heart box (£4.99) and the Hello Thank You chocolates (£2.49).
These tasty red chocs are not just for Christmas, and after the self-denial that January inevitably brings, having a box in the house is a welcome relief. They are, as you would expect, delicious and luxurious and a perfect present for Valentines Day – I know I would be very happy to recieve these.
I have to say that this box of Lindt chocolates is my favourite! The chocolates taste decadent but it’s not going to cost you £’s or lbs! I’ve often looked for small boxes of chocolates, to say Thank You, but have been disappointed because I couldn’t find any that fitted my budget or the fact that a lot of recipients wouldn’t want a huge box of chocolates. This box fits the bill perfectly and reinforces my favourite motto, ‘A little bit of what you fancy does you good.’ Perfect!
I love these chocolates so much, I even made a little Vine film about them! Enjoy! (Just to let you know, there’s no sound in the video!)
