I’m writing this Tuesday Treat post on Sunday morning, having just been reading the focus of the post: The Simple Things magazine.
I stopped reading magazines a while ago. I got fed up with not being able to afford the clothes in them, cook the recipes in them and generally felt like they weren’t aimed at me. Then, the people of Mollie Makes, brought this little gem out. I subscribed because the offer was too good to pass up & my copy arrived last week. I had a quick flick through & was instantly impressed. Even my OH thinks it’s a great magazine (He tweeted this & got retweeted by The Simple Things! Much pride in my house!) I wanted to wait for a suitable time to read it, hence it being Sunday morning. I’m sitting in the garden, drinking tea out of my favourite cup, in the sun & wrapped in a blanket (well, it is Autumn!). Perfect!
The magazine is fantastic & just my cup of tea. My favourite bit so far is the Tree Identifier. I love a good walk during autumn, as the trees are turning shades of red and gold, and there’s a nip in the air, wearing my favourite jumper & boots, then head home to a glass of red wine & a sit beside a roaring fire. Perfection!
I think, that in an increasingly busy & 24 hour world, we need to slow down for the simple things – heck, I’ve already done that by changing careers. Life is short, enjoy the simple things.
Thank you The Simple Things for making a magazine for me!
This week, my Tuesday Treat is pretty simple. It’s the Paralympics. My OH was lucky enough to get tickets to the athletics on Sunday and wow! Not only is the Olympic Park an amazing venue but what we saw were superhuman athletes doing outstanding things. It was all so impressive and inspirational. I had tears in my eyes on more than one occasion!
It was so great to be part of the biggest and best Paralympics ever. The athletes certainly make you think about your own life – when I moan I’m too tired to go for a run or am too lazy to get out into the garden. They made me think that I can do anything as long as work hard enough. Better try & put it into practice then!
This weeks Tuesday Treat is from Bread & Jam. I ordered this lovely new notebook from them last week. I needed a new A4 notebook & couldn’t find one anywhere – until I searched in Etsy and came up with this. They have lots of lovely stationery and cards. I really like the clocks they sell too!
Check their website out as well as they have a great blog that shows off loads of designers from Folksy – I’ve discovered a whole new shops to spend my money in! Enjoy x
This weeks Tuesday Treat is an awesome design blog that I came across through Pinterest. I’ve been looking for some design/typography blogs to follow for my cateca blog and on Friday, I came across chictype. It is by Svetlana Bilenkina, who is a graphic designer & type enthusiast. Not only does she bring together great graphics from across the web, but she also showcases her work. My favourite, so far, is this awesome poster that she designed.
I love a good inspirational poster, hence my downloading of The Green Gal’s Mo Farah quote poster! Soon I’m going to need more wall space! Enjoy x
