The garden is being completely overhauled. We’re replacing the fence and the shed & not a moment too soon. Both are about to collapse! But while this is going on, we can’t plant anything as the borders aren’t ready for it. However, I do have quite a nice array of pots. Inspired by this post over on The Green Gal, I decided time had come to fill them.

Hanging Basket

When I was small, we grew these in the borders of my Mum’s house & I always remember them. They were on offer at the local garden centre so thought I’d give them a go. They always make me smile!

Pink Flower

This is a lovely little pink flower, not sure what it’s called. It looked really pretty (and it was quite cheap!) so thought I’d pick it up. I don’t know much about soil type etc so just give things a go and hope for the best!

Salad Leaves

One of the main reasons we’re working on the garden is because we want to grow our own veg as much as possible. So when I saw these salad leaves (on offer) and that they were suitable for pots I thought I’d give them a go. To be honest, I didn’t hold out much hope as I planted a lot in a small space. But on visiting another garden centre, I saw they had them the same so felt that they should be ok. And they are growing! So much so, I’m going to have to start trimming them. Never had home grown salad before! So excited!

Cherry Toms

Last year I grew some tomatoes very successfully. I put them in a grow bag & let nature take its course. They were delicious. This year, I wanted something that I could put in a pot. I think these are the ‘Tom Thumb’ variety, which means they are easy to grow cherry toms that don’t require any pinching out. They have already got flowers on them & they’ve only been in a week! Can’t wait to eat them – there’s nothing like fresh toms. I’ve also put a few strawberry plants in a pot, so fingers are firmly crossed that they’ll produce something.

Purple Flower

I had a few plants left over & needed another pot so bought this little purple flower to give the pot some height. It seems to be holding it’s own!

Birthday Flowers

And this is the pot that inspired all the others. It was a gift for my recent birthday from my OH’s mum. It’s one of the best presents I’ve had! And I love it. While all the other pots are slowly growing, this one is full & grown. All I have to do is maintain it!
