I love knitting. It’s relaxing, like baking, but without the calories. I’ve not been knitting long, only since last Autumn, so still consider myself very much a beginner! One of the best things about knitting is that it’s easy to make cheap presents for people – especially pregnant people! If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know that so far I’ve knitted a blanket for a friend who had a baby. They loved it, which was great, as it was a bit of a labour of love!

Baby Beanie Mid KnitSo when another friend became pregnant I thought this would be a great opportunity to practice my knitting & knit something new – preferably before the baby was born! On a day trip to Henley-on-Thames, we stumbled across a wool shop & I bought a Biggan Design baby beanie pattern on sale for just £1. Bargain. With a quick trip to Masons, my local wool shop, I picked some cream & lilac wool for the beanie. I struggled quite a bit starting off and had to start again…twice! I hadn’t used single rib stitch before. Once I’d got it, there was no stopping me! I simply needed a good few hours to get going on it.

I really enjoyed knitting the beanie. I learnt a new stitch, practised changing colour & stitch. I didn’t use a circular needle but I think I’m going to knit another one, maybe for my Folksy shop (shameless plug!) & swap the colours over, using my new circular needle.

The best thing about this pattern was that it was very easy to do, very quick to make & looks adorable. I just hope that the recipient is as impressed as I am! x
