Last Sunday my OH & I wanted to have a relaxed day. We’ve been really busy over the last few weekends, mainly working in the garden. So we decided to head out for brunch. Our first choice was Burford Garden Company, as we were going there to get a few bits for the garden anyway. However, they don’t open until 11am on a Sunday and then the cafe doesn’t do breakfasts. Fail. So after a bit of time on Google, my OH discovered Huffkins, a delightful tea room with a bakery next door in Burford. After a quick menu check, we set off. If you’ve never been to Burford, you are missing a treat! It is quintessentially beautiful Olde World England, with lots and lots of Cotswold stone. We decided we’d like to live there in under a minute flat! With free parking in the town centre, we parked up & walked through to Huffkins. Located on the main road, it’s easy to find. We got there about 20 minutes after opening and they were already busy. Good sign! We sat in the back & checked through the menu.

Veggie Sausage bapI ordered a veggie sausage bap. As it was before 11am, we got a drink and the bap for £6.95. We also asked for a fried egg each, but sadly our waiter forgot to order them and by the time the food came, we were too hungry to wait. It wasn’t added to the bill and the waiter apologised. No harm done. I wasn’t too annoyed about it though, as I’d already made the waiter work extra for his pay as I’d thrown the full milk jug across our table and made a huge mess. Think I went as red as the chutney in the picture above. Our waiter was very lovely about it. I was mortified.

The bap was great. Quorn veggie sausages in a tasty soft roll bap. My loose leaf tea also came with a jug of hot water to top it up. I was very impressed. Not only that but you get 10% off in the bakery with your cafe receipt, which we took advantage of, as did almost every other patron of the cafe while we were there! Great idea! We’ll definitely go back to Huffkins, as they’ve got a few tasty looking veggie options on their menu that I would like to try. A lovely tea room in a picturesque town!
