Tuesday Treat – New Mittens

Well, it certainly seems like the gorgeous heat wave is over. It’s turned much colder here in Oxfordshire, which is a shame. I’ve enjoyed being warm & not feeling cold. I’ve been cold since October last year so its made for a refreshing change! But now that I’m back wearing jumpers & thick socks, I’ve been thinking about my Winter Wardrobe and if anything needs replacing. One thing that the needed replacing were my favourite mittens – I’ve had them for 10 years, and they’re pretty much worn out. So when I saw that the very talented Hilary Grant was having a sample sale, I knew I needed to be on the look out for a bargain!

New winter knitsI wasn’t disappointed! I bought these gorgeous mittens for less than half price, great for my bank balance and my chilly hands! They’re just what I’ve been looking for. I prefer mittens to gloves – they feel a bit more festive! I got the hat too, mainly because I love wearing hats in Winter and I know it’ll get plenty of wear while I’m out walking Poppy!

One of the reasons it’s so great having a really hot summer is that when it’s done, you look forward to the next season. I’m definitely looking forward to it being cold enough to wear these, which for my freaky temperature, will probably be next week!

Christmas Wish List – Wool

Christmas Wish List - wool

Lots of people look towards the new year & make resolutions. I will do this too, but I’m already thinking about my knitting resolutions and have found some patterns & yarn that I want to make next year. Like most knitters, I have a wool stash, and none of the patterns I want to make will use up any of that wool. What?! It’ll come in handy for other projects! So here’s a quick round up of the projects & yarn I’m going to attempt next year.

Now I know what you’re thinking, that’s not much. No, it’s not. This is just for starters. Plus, I’m going to try & not overload myself with patterns too early in the year! And I want to try and expand the range I sell in my Folksy shop. I have to admit it’s been a little neglected of late so my aim next year is to add to it regularly and promote it much more. So I think three patterns is enough for now! I’ve asked Father Christmas for the yarn for the two jumpers but only found the Snow Mittens since then. You know I’ll keep you posted on my progress – wish me luck!
