Tencel for People Tree Crowdfunder

I’ve been a fan of People Tree for over ten years. I believe that we need to shop ethically and consciously so that every part of the supply chain is treated fairly. No matter what we do, we all consume and that’s not going to change any time soon. Therefore, I think it’s important that we consume as consciously as possible. I always try to make sure I buy clothes that are fairtrade and organic cotton. This is one of the reasons I like shopping at People Tree so much because they are super concsious and always trying to be more environmentally friendly. This is why they launched their Tencel for People Tree Crowdfunder.

Tencel is made from wood pulp, so is completely sustainable. The process of turning wood pulp into fabric is also environmentally friendly, as any solvent used within the process is almost 100% recycled. As someone who is increasingly environmentally aware of the damage humans have, even without realising it, this is the perfect fabric for the environmentally conscious shopper.

When I heard about the crowdfunder, I thought it was a great opportunity to help develop the use of Tencel. People Tree have developed a small capsule collection using Tencel and as response to this has been good, they want to expand the collection. I’ve donated as I think this is a really worthwhile campaign to get behind. I think we need to start using more environmentally friendly fabrics so that we reduce our impact on the planet wherever we can. Why not head over to the crowdfunder page now and take a look? People Tree Autumn Fashion 2016

Whether you’ve gone back to school or just have that September feeling, there’s a whole load of new and gorgeous Autumn/Winter fashions to update your wardrobe. For me, I’ve started at a new school. If that wasn’t terrifying enough, I’ve also noticed how smart everyone is dressed. It’s not like my old school wasn’t smart, it was just a bit more relaxed and I could get away with stripey tops galore. I don’t feel the same way now. And that’s not a bad thing. It is nice to wear smart clothes and it definitely helps me to feel more professional. That being said, it makes my wardrobe look a little bit lackluster. So I’m planning on jazzing up my wardrobe with some of these lovelies from People Tree.

I love that corduroy is coming back into fashion. I wore my last pair of cords so much until they had bare patches! So these are on my wish list, as I probably wouldn’t wear them to school, and that’s my main focus right now. I love the Selma skirt too, though I’m not sure that it would suit me. I’m not sure I’m the right kind of shape for it, but that doesn’t stop me loving it!

I like wearing dresses to school, because they’re easy to wear, comfy and can be layered up if necessary. I really like these prints, especially the sausage dog print! All you need is a decent pair of tights and there’s your outfit. Plus dresses always look smart and that’s what I sorely need. I know I really should do more outfit posts, so you can see what the clothes I get look like, but I’m not great at having my picture taken! So these round up posts will have to do for now!

Be an #Agentforchange on World Fair Trade Day

I’ve written many times before about why I buy fair trade products wherever possible and the importance of consumers demanding fair trade products from brands. Today I’m asking you once again to consider buying fair trade and for you to become an #agentforchange. Today is World Fair Trade Day so why not find out more about it…

The World Fair Trade Organisation state that:

Fair Trade is an agent for change. It is a tangible solution to poverty eradication, a good tool for sustainable development, and most of all Fair Trade promotes social justice.

The fact that brands and manufacturers are still not ensuring workers are paid fairly, have safe working conditions or don’t worry about using child labour, shows that governments are not doing enough. It is up to us, the consumer, to demand that they do more. You can become a doer! By simply spending your money on fair trade products and with fair trade companies, your actions speak volumes. It says that you demand an end to exploitation, poverty and climate change that has an impact on the world’s most vulnerable populations. Find out more in this vide by People Tree:

By being Fair Trade producers, it enable farmers and their communities to access money to help the local area, whether it’s by building schools, paying for a doctor or improving infrastructure. That’s pretty cool in my book. And if I can help people do that simply by shopping slightly differently, then I’m okay with that.
