Last week, while enjoying some time in London, I went for lunch at Gail’s Bakery in Soho. It’s an adorable bakery with quite a range of delicious food & drinks. And they have free wifi, which is always a plus in my book! The bakery has a really lovely feel, with great customer service.
I arrived just before the lunchtime rush, ordered a chai latte & a goat’s cheese and tomato brioche and settled down with my laptop. Despite the fact that it was getting busy, I didn’t have to wait long for my lunch. The Goat’s cheese brioche was delicious! It was warm and very tasty – I could’ve eaten two! I was disappointed with the chai latte, however. It had some nutmeg sprinkled over the top, which was really nice & the milk had been heated well, but it had a really weak flavour & didn’t really taste of much beyond hot milk. I was really disappointed, as I’d had a chai latte at Starbucks earlier, which was way better. I’m always rooting for the independent little guy to make it better, but on this occasion they didn’t.
Having said that, I would definitely go back for the food alone. I didn’t get to sample any of their cakes this time, which was a real shame as they looked A Mazing! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
