Tuesday Treat – Violet and Percy

There’s nothing I like more than finding a new stationery shop and thanks again to Twitter, I’ve found another one! Violet and Percy have an amazing selection of quirky cards, prints and jewellery and I couldn’t resist these postcards. What do you think?! I could quite happily spend all day looking through the website and deciding which things to buy.

Violet and Percy cards

I treated myself and my OH to a postcard each. We both love a good postcard and thought these would spruce up our respective office walls. They have loads of lovely prints, homewares and jewellery, including this adorable cloud bracelet, which I am coveting. Really hope someone buys it for me!

How about you? Do you stick things on your walls to brighten them up and inspire you?

#BEDM – Passion Projects

One thing that has been a constant love in my life has been stationery and it is my dream to open a stationery shop. I would fill it with lots of brightly filled stationery that was designed to help you be organised and plan for pretty much everything you needed. Last week I received some stationery from Viking. I was able to pick a few things that would be useful. Here’s what I picked:

stationery1. Stabilo felt tip pens 2. Post-it Full Adhesive notes 3. A4 Headbound notepads

In my view, you can never have too many post-it notes and I’d never seen these before. (I’ve been going through a self-imposed stationery shopping ban!) These are excellent and they stick to walls without falling off. This is great news as I’ve always used post-it notes for reminders, prompts, planning and organising. Plus, these are small enough that I can also use them in my filofax and on my computer. I am in love with these post-it notes. Seriously.

pensI am pretty picky about my pens. I hate when ink goes through the page so I use specific pens in my filofax. However, when I’m brainstorming, I want colour and a pen with a bit of weight behind it. So I got this Stabilo range. I love them! There’s such a great range of colours and they are great for planning. I used them straight away to plan some blog ideas and some WordPress sites I’ve been working on and this is why I also got some A4 notepads. I don’t like notepads that are bound on the side and don’t even get me started on ring bound pads. *shudders* I like to be able to use both of the sides of the paper and being able to make notes and draw things out so A4 pads are essential.

getting organisedI started using the pens and post-it notes straight away, planning my ideas and sticking them on my wall. I can’t put into words how much fun I had writing these notes out! This is why I’d like to open my own stationery shop so that I could spend my whole day being surrounded by brightly coloured stationery. Plus, think how much stationery I’d have to use running an actual shop?!

In all seriousness, I am taking a course on hand lettering as I’d love to be able to design my own stationery. I’ve designed a few inserts for my Filofax so when I’ve perfected them, it might be the start of a whole new stationery empire! Watch this space! How about you? Is there one thing you’d love to do?

Disclosure: I was sent the items to review, but all opinions are my own.

National Stationery Week – My Favourite Shops

Happy National Stationery Week everyone! I had planned lots of posts surrounding this week, as stationery was my first real love. However, time has got away from me this week so there’ll only be a few. First up is a little roundup of some of my favourite online stationery shops.

The Green Gables

My to do list note pad

I’ve been a long time fan of Gabrielle for many reasons. Not only does she design beautiful stationery, but all the green gables products are made in the UK and printed on recycled paper, and she works with independent, British suppliers. Plus, the green gables supports charities ranging from the Fresh Start Foundation to age UK and WaterAid. My favourite product at the moment as the to do list above. I am addicted to making lists so this would be perfect!

Present & Correct

wood dispenser

I could do serious damage to my credit card on the Present & Correct website. They have an amazing range of stationery, including this adorable wooden tape holder. Isn’t it cute?! I love the variety of stationery and office objects that you find in this shop. Some of it really reminds me growing up and the joy I used to get out of opening a new packet of pens or starting to write in a new notebook. *sigh*

Sticker Stack

Planner

I am a new shopper at Sticker Stack. I discovered them via Twitter and follow them on social media. I love posts about their products, though they always have me reaching for my purse! I love the variety of stickers, stationery and accessories they sell and it’s been a real eye-opener seeing all the designs that come from Korea and Japan. So different and adorable! They’ve become a real favourite in a really short space of time.

Nancy and Betty

Olivetti Typewriter

I would so love a typewriter. Sadly, our tiny little house says no, but this is one of the reasons I enjoy shopping at Nancy and Betty. I love the original designs that the team at Nancy and Betty produce, with a special soft spot for their gift wrap designs. I do love gift wrap and I don’t use it nearly enough any more – my sister will understand why! This is a great place to shop at for original designs, made in Great Britain.

Cult Pens

cda chromatics inkBlue is my favourite colour and on the Cult Pens website, you can search by ink colour. A real revelation and it throws up beautiful things like this ink. Isn’t it gorgeous?! It makes me think of grand fountain pens, huge oak desks and grandfather clocks. Very grown up! If you’re looking for a pen, whatever the type, head to Cult Pens and no doubt they’ll have something suitable. Plus they deliver really quickly – perfect for that pen emergency. (Only true stationery geeks will know what I mean!)

Ohh Deer

Dancing Pug Tape

Ohh Deer is a great place to shop and not just for stationery. They sell everything from seed bombs to t shirts, and from chocolate to cushions. The one thing that makes them a little different is that they support a range of designers and illustrators, including my favourite, Gemma Correll. Seriously, I’ll buy anything with one of Gemma’s pug illustrations on it! Plus all products are made in the UK, on recycled materials where possible.

These are just a few of the great places that are sourcing and creating beautiful stationery right here in the UK. What’s your favourite stationery shop? Is there one bit of stationery you can’t live without?

Tuesday Treat – Sticker Stack

I have written many times about my love of paper and all things stationery. It’s a love affair that shows no signs of abating. Last week, while working hard, I happened to notice a little picture of an adorable little notebook in my Facebook feed and I thought to myself that I deserved a little stationery treat. So I clicked through to the Sticker Stack website and lost myself for a good half an hour, perusing their adorable stationery collection.

Sticker StackObviously, I couldn’t just buy the little notebook. That would be a waste. I wanted something else to jazz up my to do lists a bit. I generally plan my week using my ever-present & ever-grubby Filofax. While I use an array of colours, coloured tabs and highlighters throughout, I wanted something a bit different to make me smile. So I bought the big pack of stickers too and they are so cool! They make me smile so much! I also treated myself to some more washi tape, because it’s washi tape! They also popped the little dots and ‘Always Smile’ sticky notes in the envelope, which are super cute! I want to use the little planner to organise my blog posts, as I have many ideas in my head, but no where to organise them effectively. So am planning a little stationery and handwriting session with my little notebook this weekend. I can not wait!

Did you know that National Stationery Week is coming up at the end of March? I’ll be doing a few posts about that so if you want embrace your inner stationery geek, then stay tuned!
