Hello! How’s your week treating you? I’m not going to lie, all I want to do at the moment is knit! It’s something to do with the change of season – I’m getting ready to hibernate! As I’m feeling all creative, finding sources of inspiration online is giving me a real boost. This week, Tea and Kate appeared in my Twitter timeline and I’m so pleased it did. It’s a beautiful online store that sells beautiful, beautiful things. I think I’m a little bit in love with it! One of my favourite things on the site is this lovely duvet set.
I can just imagine having a lazy Sunday morning lie in, with a brew and Poppy curled up by my side in this duvet set! See – hibernation! I can already tell that I’m going to be a regular at Tea and Kate, especially as we’re focusing on redecorating our offices and bedroom over the coming months. I need inspiration, storage and pretty things in spades! Love autumn!
Does anyone else feel like the whole of the UK breathes a sigh of relief every time the sun appears? Like we’re all thinking, thank goodness it’s not raining today?! I know I do. We didn’t get flooded over the winter, but we certainly got sick of it. Walking Poppy is no fun in the rain, especially as she has to smell every little thing! Despite that, Poppy is very happy to see the sun too. She’s a real sunworshipper and will seek out any spot of the warm stuff in the house, often leaving me on my own, which is most unusual for her!
The only drawback about the good weather is that it means it’s time to spring clean and start planning diy and gardening chores. I’m not really ready for that yet, mainly because I know we’ve got lots and lots of jobs that need doing, and it’s a little overwhelming. I’m still happy to hibernate on the sofa, watching Game of Thrones reruns in front of the fire! Just like Poppy, I’m always looking for the warmest spot in the room!
How about you? Are you done with hibernating and ready to spring clean the place or do you want a few more days hiding under the blanket in your favourite warm spot?
I’m not a big fan of spring cleaning. The weather is improving so I want to be outside, doing something fun. So I prefer to do my spring cleaning in autumn and am in full swing of getting everything tidy & sorted so that I can hibernate guilt free! I’ve given my study a complete overhaul, moved furniture, cleaned, organised, charity shopped, eBayed, the works. I’ve even given the pots in the garden an autumnal overhaul and planted a few lovely pansy plants to go alongside the cyclamens that are in full bloom at the moment.
Next weekend, we’ll be making a start on the spare room, which needs quite a bit of attention, specifically with storage. So I’m going to be looking out for good, budget friendly storage solutions to help keep that room organised. Is there anything more soothing than a good old clear out?!
I don’t know if it’s the clocks going back or the chill in the air, but something has triggered the desire to hibernate. I’ve stocked up on kindling, we had our wood delivery last week, we’re having an autumnal clear out and I’m even baking again. I made a banana bread last week and am planning to bake some digestive biscuits this week. In between my bouts of domesticity, there is shop bought cake, which is essential to keep me going between dog walks.
This little beauty came from the newly opened Natural Bread Company shop in Oxford. I popped in earlier today to see what was on offer and eagerly snapped up this bad boy. It is more delicious than it looks, and they had quite an array of equally delicious looking cakes, which I will be back for! I’m all for hibernation, just need to get some red wine in and I’ll be set for winter!
