Christmas Crafting

I know, I know. It’s a bit late to be writing about what I crafted over Christmas, but hey, better late than never. Just before Christmas, I really got into sewing. From making pyjama bottoms at Darn It & Stitch to making Cath Kidston Christmas decorations, I had caught the sewing bug. I had a few Mollie Makes kits to make as well as an ampersand cross stitch kit from The Shop at Number 57. (FYI, their shop is offline at the moment due to flooding. Fingers crossed they’re back up & running soon.)

I love these fox brooches from Mollie Makes. (Why can’t all their kits be super cute and easy to make?!) I’ve kept the orange once for myself, to brighten up my coat on dull dog walks, while the pink one is winging its way to my sister in Canada.

ampersand cross stitch

My sister gave me this kit for my birthday last May, so it’s taken me a while to get around to making it. I wanted to make it perfect and sew the cross stitch in the right way, not be ‘free form’ like I have previously. It isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty close and I am so pleased with the result. I love the white thread on the black aida fabric. I’m very tempted to make another one, once the The Shop at Number 57 is open again!

What have you been crafting recently? I’m on the look out for more kits – let me know if you’ve come across any good ones!

Tuesday Treat

No 57

This week’s Tuesday Treat is a massive hint for anyone who wants to buy me a present! It’s The Shop at Number 57. I discovered them through Domesticali who was making one of their embroidery kits at Needles & Natter one week. Naturally I had to go & explore what other lovely things they had for sale! I love the look of the website and I could easily buy all of the products! I’d love to have a go at one of their cross stitch kits sometime, which I think are really funky. I love the idea of stitching white thread onto black. It looks so effective.

I also love the fact that they have vintage products and upcycled products for sale too. Go and have a look – trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
